I was researching the roomba by irobot (not to be confused with the woomba) and ran across this gem of a post....I can imagine this guy and his "abode"...lol.

FYI - the biggest surprise surprise surprise when I got my first 560 (I now have two), is that it don't remember what areas it done cleaned and what areas it ain't cleaned. The Roomba battery (500 series) will last about 1 to 1.5276 hours per cleaning mission on non-carpet floors (less on carpet). When the battery run low, dat bot go back to it's charging dock. Next time it starts a cleaning mission, it won't be fixin' to clean the areas it missed on the previous mission, it just cleans from the dock on out until the battery gits low.

If your shack is small (500-600 sq ft) you may be able to get away with one Roomba. Anything bigger than that may require more bots and some Lighthouses to regularly clean the whole trailer.

Is it worth it? I think so, I really like my Roombas. That fancy scheduling feature works great for me. I have one Roomba at each end of the house, both start at 10am M-F. If they wake me up, I know I'm late for work.

Some stuff they don't tell you:
- You'll probably need to clean the dust filter every day. It's easy, takes less than a minute, but it's more hassle than a conventional manual vacuum cleaner. I use the same air compressor I use to style my doo to blow the dust off the filter, but a quick rinse under the spigot and a pat dry would work too.
- The battery only lasts about a year if you run it every day. The batteries are expensive, you may wanna consult your accountant to work out the Return On Investment...
- iRbt is pretty good about replacing busted parts, batteries, etc while under warranty. Say "naam uh stay" when they answer the phone. This forum is bester for technical questions.
- About once a month, you should dissemble the bot and clean it guts (brushes, wheels, etc). Takes about 20-30 minutes.
- iRbt recommends you replace the filters, brushes, spinning wizz brushes every so often. If you clean 'em good every month, all the parts should (except the battery) last years.
- You mileage will very something considerable if you got pets.
- They are a little loud when working, you can't be on the phone in the same room with 'em while they're running.
- It's best to keep cables and all manner of encumbrances out of it's way. Granny ended up doing some redecorating to make things easier for the bot to clean. The bot can get caught on cables, rug tassles, loose carpet, loose curtains, etc.
- It's fun to watch. For about 30 minutes.
- It can mar and ding furniture and baseboards when it bumps and rubs against then. I put sticky felt on the bumper to minimize damage. Those dapper brothers on Antiques Roadshow would shoot this thing.
- Don't let it run over you foot.
- Listen to whatever vic7767 says.
